    Billings, Montana

We just got home from the show--an outdoor concert in the rain in downtown Billings, Montana.  I've never seen Marc live before, so let me say the music stands up well in a live venue.   He played all of the songs a Cohn novice would want to hear, and the new stuff is wonderful.  I love a ballads, and Marc's draw so purely from his life in such universal ways that I was constantly wiping tears from my eyes, because his stories are my stories too.  There are elements in all of them that conjure up moments from the past.....moments of heartbreak, of joy, and of long lost family memories.  How can you listen to a song like One Safe Place and not sense the damage behind the lyrics along with the miraculous hope that love can be reborn?

Thank God Marc found his muse again!

    Marc Cohn comes to Billings

    By Nick Lough

BILLINGS - Singer/Songwriter Marc Cohn famous for the song "Walking in Memphis" took the stage for a show on Montana Avenue Friday.

A few years ago Cohn was shot in the head while touring in Denver. Cohn says his latest album focuses on that incident and the emotions of Hurricane Katrina. The songwriter says it’s all about connecting with the crowd and feeling the emotion in the songs.

"Whether there's 400 people there or 4,000, I'm looking to enjoy the moment with that particular audience to make them happy, make them glad they spent the night with me and my band," said Marc Cohn.

Cohn heads to Bismarck, North Dakota and then on to Minneapolis, Minnesota.
